2024 Income Tax Reminder: ROS Extension Announced for 2025

Revenue has announced an extension to the Pay & File deadline for certain self-assessed Income Tax customers and those liable to Capital Acquisitions Tax (CAT), giving taxpayers more time — but only if they meet specific criteria.

This extension applies to returns and payments made through the Revenue Online Service (ROS) and can be a useful opportunity to avoid last-minute pressure.

Extended Deadline:

If you’re a self-assessed taxpayer and you:

  • File your 2024 Form 11

  • Pay the balance of Income Tax due for 2024, and

  • Make your Preliminary Tax payment for 2025

through ROS, you’ll benefit from an extended deadline of Wednesday, 19 November 2025.

The same extended deadline also applies to Capital Acquisitions Tax returns and payments for gifts or inheritances with valuation dates in the year ended 31 August 2025, as long as these are completed through ROS.

Important: File and Pay via ROS to Qualify

To avail of this extended deadline, both the return and the payment must be submitted via ROS. If you only complete one of these actions through ROS, the extension will not apply, and the original due date of 31 October 2025 stands.

Please Complete Your Income Tax Checklist

To allow enough time to complete your return accurately and avoid unnecessary stress near the deadline, we kindly ask that you complete your Income Tax checklist on our client portal by 31 August 2025.

This ensures we can review your information and submit everything well in advance of the cut-off date.
