Temporary Business Energy Support Scheme (TBESS) Update

The Government has broadened the scope of its temporary business energy subsidy scheme (TBESS)

The Government announced amendments to the scheme as part of a €1.2bn cost-of-living package, opening access to valuable subsidies for thousands of businesses.

Companies will now be able to claim relief if their energy costs have gone up by 30pc, versus 50pc under the earlier version of TBESS. They will also be eligible for rebates of 50pc of the increased amount, compared with 40pc subject to a limit of €15,000 per premises per month (increased from €10,000).

Also the new terms apply retroactively to September and forward through May. The new extended deadline is 31 May 2023
