Income Tax Return Deadline Extended to 18 November 2026: What You Need to Know
The deadline for filing your 2025 Income Tax return is approaching. Revenue has confirmed that eligible taxpayers who file and pay through the Revenue Online Service (ROS) have until Wednesday, 18 November 2026 to meet their obligations.
The standard deadline of 31 October has now passed, but qualifying taxpayers can still avail of the extended ROS deadline.
Who Qualifies for the Extension?
The extension applies to self-assessed taxpayers, including sole traders, self-employed individuals and others required to file a Form 11 Income Tax return.
To qualify, you must complete both your tax return and the relevant payments through ROS.
What Needs to Be Completed by 18 November?
Eligible taxpayers must ensure they have:
-
Filed their 2025 Income Tax return (Form 11) through ROS.
-
Paid any outstanding Income Tax balance for 2025.
-
Paid Preliminary Tax for 2026, where applicable.
It’s important to remember that the extension only applies when both filing and payment are completed through ROS. If only one is completed online, the standard 31 October deadline applies.
What Happens If You Miss the Deadline?
Missing the applicable deadline can result in late filing surcharges and interest on outstanding tax payments.
With just over two weeks remaining until 18 November, now is the time to ensure your records are complete, your tax liability has been calculated and your return is ready for submission.
